I am a Product Designer with a unique position in my domain of the Construction industry, where I've been also a landscape architect for 10+ years.
By mere chance in 2017 I attended some Google's conferences and got fascinated by the Tech world's dynamic culture. In day time I remained my role in the Architecture world. In night time I crawled the Web to learn programming, data analytics, product development etc. I am forever thankful to the Internet for leveling this playing field.
During Covid my two worlds merged into a hyper-interconnected one, run by softwares. I found myself moving between both building teams of the built environment and its virtual infrastructure. My work ranges from 5 hectare local land to a 5.5 inch screen. People I used to talk to over a coffee and paper sketch, now over Teams, Zoom, Google Meets, Slack, Jitsi, Keep.io etc.
The design principles are the same, only either longer time frame strategy or short design cycle. The building process is extraordinarily similar, except that coding doesn't depend on the weather condition. While Architecture is a highly regulated discipline, the Tech crowd is all quirks, rainbows and unicorns. Unlike Urban Design, digital products are not tied by a physical place or only accessed by regional users.
For me, Design is solving problems in an elegant way, and never a solo act. GitHub is full of open-sourced solutions waiting for teams to create products on top of it. I am interested in complex problems, and look forward to joining teams to tackle them.
